The Science Museum of the University of Navarra has organized a botanical illustration workshop for all audiences so that attendees can develop artistic and technical skills when representing plants and flowers.

Marie-Anne Reynell, Director of Development at the Science Museum points out that one of the objectives of this training is to educate the eye and enhance the observation of nature. "Through botanical watercolor, we invite attendees to stop, observe nature and capture those details that, in the fast pace of modern life, often go unnoticed."

Participants will learn to observe the anatomy of botanical species, capturing essential details such as textures, shapes and colors with precision. This thematic workshop, which aims to unite scientific observation and artistic creation, is presented in four modules: the first is oriented to introduce the technique through volume exercises with watercolor and to learn about the different textures; in the second, participants will learn the main differences between botanical art and scientific illustration; the third focuses on botanical composition through the dissection or decomposition of a plant; and in the fourth, participants will be able to draw and paint landscapes both in person and through photographs.

The sessions will be given by professor and painter Laura González Toledo and will have the collaboration of the Botany section of the Department of Environmental Biology of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Navarra.

This botanical watercolor workshop will be held at the Science Building of the University of Navarra during five Saturdays from 10 am to 1 pm: October 19, December 14, February 15, April 12 and June 14. The price of this training is 75 € per person with a discount of 15 € for students. Registrations can be made through the website.
