The Science Museum of the University of Navarra has inaugurated this morning the exhibition "Drugs: brain and society", which can be visited from September 29th until Friday, November 28th on the ground floor of the Science Building of the University of Navarra.

The exhibition invites visitors to discover the science of drugs and the brain: how they work, what effects they produce and how they influence everyday life. In addition, the exhibition looks at the social, historical and environmental implications of drugs, exploring how consumption and production have shaped cultures, economies and natural environments.

"The aim of this exhibition is to look at the phenomenon of drugs head on and from a scientific perspective, to understand what they really are, how they act in our brain, what risks they entail and how they influence health and society," explains Marta Revuelta, curator of the exhibition and head of Activities at the Science Museum of the University of Navarra.

The exhibition is an interactive tour that seeks to generate knowledge and reflection, from biology and health to society and the environment. "We have organized a bilingual exhibition (Spanish/Basque) designed to be accessible through objects, interactive panels, games and other resources that invite learning, reflection and dialogue," adds Revuelta.

"Drugs: brain and society" is a temporary exhibition produced by the Science Museum of the University of Navarra thanks to the support of the Caja Navarra Foundation, with the collaboration of the ONCE Foundation, the Ciganda Ferrer Foundation, El Molino School, Yonki Books, the Navarre National Police Headquarters and the Pamplona Penitentiary Center. A multidisciplinary team from different faculties of the University of Navarra(Science, Pharmacy and Nutrition, Philosophy and Letters, Nursing and Medicine), together with professionals from the educational and social fields, participated in its design.

Activities around the exhibition

Visits to the exhibition can be made in different modalities, with guides, and with complementary activities such as the viewing of a film or the realization of experimental workshops. All information on reservations, schedules and prices can be consulted on the website of the scientific institution.

In addition, the Navarra Superior Headquarters of the National Police will offer a free talk on "the drug scam" aimed at students from the schools that visit the exhibition each week.

On the other hand, the Science Museum has prepared the series of lectures "The brain: conditions, protection and evolution" given by different experts from the University of Navarra and which aims to deepen some of the topics covered in the exhibition. These conferences will be held throughout the month of November in collaboration with Civivox Iturrama.
