More than 5,000 people visit the exhibition "Drugs. Brain and society" organized by the Science Museum of the University of Navarra.

The exhibition was on display at the Science Building of the academic center from September 29 to November 28.

More than 5,000 people have visited the exhibition "Drugs. Brain and society", an initiative of the Science Museum of the University of Navarra in collaboration with the Caja Navarra Foundation, which has invited visitors to discover the science of drugs and the brain, from how they act, what effects they produce, how they influence our daily lives, as well as their social, historical and environmental implications. The exhibition, which opened on September 29th, remained at the Science Building of the University of Navarra until Friday, November 28th.

Of the more than 5,000 people who have visited the exhibition, 1,800 are teenagers and young people from a total of 28 schools in the region of Navarra who have been able to enjoy the exhibition and scientific workshops related to the exhibition.

The origin of these centers is varied: Pamplona, Estella, Burlada, Mendavia, Lodosa, Cordovilla, San Adrián, Barañáin, Villava, Tudela, Sangüesa and Estella: Dominicas, IES Tierra Estella, El Molino, CI Donibane, IES Julio Caro Baroja, IES Ibaialde, CI María Inmaculada, Teresianas, Larraona, IES Padre Moret, CENIFER, IES Joaquín Romera, Centro Público de Educación Básica de Personas Adultas José María Iribarren, CI Escuela de Educadoras y Educadores, IES Ega de San Adrián, IES Barañain, Liceo Monjardín, Escolapios, Vedruna, IES Pablo Sarasate, IES Basoko, La Presentación FESD, IES Benjamín de Tudela, Adériz, Iparralde DBHI, IES Sierra de Leyre, Irabia- Izaga and CIP Estella.

"We are encouraged by the good reception that the exhibition has had among secondary school, high school, vocational training and university students. Their active participation, the interest shown and the quality of the debates that arose make us think that we have been able to approach their concerns. It is an impulse to continue working on the construction of an open, rigorous and close space for scientific dissemination," says Marta Revuelta, curator of the exhibition.

In addition, 300 people from various centers and associations have visited the exhibition: Scientific, artistic and literary routes; Day Hospital for Addictive Disorders, Secretariado Gitano, Senior Program University of Navarra, Mental Health Resource of the Government of Navarra, La Caixa, Group of help to families with addiction, Xilema Foundation, Penitentiary Center, ONCE, and the Center for Psychosocial Rehabilitation of the Hospitalarias Foundation.

On the other hand, and under the umbrella of the exhibition and its theme, the Science Museum has organized four informative talks on "The science of the human brain: evolution, health and challenges of the 21st century". The sessions, which have been held at the Civivox of Iturrama and have brought together more than 300 people, have been given by experts in public health, chemistry, neuroscience and genetics where the brain has been analyzed from different perspectives: "Smartphones are weapons of mass distraction", "The challenge of protecting the brain: therapeutic alternatives in development", "Molecules in your brain" and "Evolution of the brain: the tortuous path to the human mind".

"Drugs. Brain and society" is a production of the Science Museum of the University of Navarra that has had the scientific advice of the faculties of Pharmacy and Nutrition, and Nursing of the University of Navarra. In addition, the Museum has had the collaboration of the Ciganda Ferrer Foundation, El Molino School, Yonki Books, the Pamplona Penitentiary, the National Police -Superior Headquarters of Navarra- and the ONCE Social Group.
