On Saturday June 3rd we celebrate World Environment Day. As every year, the Science Museum of the University of Navarra has organized activities for all audiences in order to bring science closer to the public.
This time the protagonists of the day will be insects. These small beings serve as food for many amphibians, birds, mammals, and are a fundamental part of the food chain. If the insect population were to decrease, this chain could be depleted and end the lives of many species due to lack of food. In addition, they act as pollinators and also as decomposers of organic matter and seed dispersers. All these functions are important because they allow ecosystems to maintain themselves over time. Without them, life on Earth would be practically impossible.

Seed bombs
With the seeds and some soil, we will form seed bombs. These are spread over the surface, soil or ground in such a way that the layer of clay, once dry, prevents the seeds from becoming food for birds, rodents and other animals. This is a very simple, economical and above all efficient cultivation technique when it comes to reforesting, greening or regenerating soils.
