The architect Patxi Mangado Beloqui (Estella, 1957) will design the new Science Museum of the University of Navarra. It will be a free-standing building to be built in the area near the CIMA and the Acunsa building.

This project, which is still under study by the University, is intended to meet two main objectives: to meet the need for space and services of the science faculties and to enhance the research and dissemination work of the Science Museum.

The Museum wants to collect 50 years of work of the Faculty of Science. A legacy of research and 11 collections donated since the 80s that reach 25 million specimens and more than 1 million museum records of 10,000 species of animals and plants. A heritage that the Science Museum wants to open to the whole society, to continue with research, education and popularization of science.

The idea is for it to be a versatile building where the different spaces can be adapted to different needs, following the criteria already applied in the Amigos building. The project also aims to achieve a sustainable building, with a design that makes optimal use of energy.

The Science Museum building will be the second signed by Patxi Mangado on the campus of the University of Navarra after the one built to house the services of Acunsa. A graduate of the School of Architecture in 1981, Mangado has twice received the National Architecture Prize. In 2009, for the Spanish pavilion at the Zaragoza Expo; and in 2017, for the Palma de Mallorca Congress Palace. Mangado is also an International Fellow of the RoyalInstitute of British Architects and Honorary Fellow of the American Institute of Architects.
