24 children participate in the workshop on simple machines

22 | 04 | 2024

24 boys and girls, accompanied by some family members, participated this Saturday in the workshop on simple machines, where they were able to learn some basic tools - such as the lever, the inclined plane, the wedge, the screw, the pulley and the wheel - that allow us to perform work with less effort and are the basis of other more complex machines.

During the day, participants were able to learn some basic physics principles behind each simple machine, and built models using everyday materials such as caps, tetrabriks, spoons, popsicle sticks, tweezers or rubber bands.

"Families have been able to enjoy together, and develop creativity, reasoning and teamwork," says María Olloquiegui, a worker at the Science Museum.

This workshop had a threefold objective: on the one hand, to encourage interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics in a fun and accessible way; on the other hand, to develop skills such as critical thinking, problem solving and creativity; and finally to have a pleasant and fun time with the family.
