The University of Navarra celebrates Poetry and Forest Day with a recital in front of one of its most emblematic trees.

Yesterday, March 21, World Poetry Day and International Forest Day were celebrated. To commemorate both events, students from humanities and science disciplines joined together in an activity promoted by the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters and the Science Museum.

In front of the Central building, under the Ginkgo Biloba, one of the most emblematic trees on the campus of the academic center, a poetry recital took place with nature as the central theme of the poems, which the students had previously selected. The event was presented by Adriana Vega, a 3rd year student of the Biochemistry Degree, and a great fan of reading and writing poetry. "By writing I express everything I feel, it's a way of letting off steam. In addition, I love nature and I was very excited to participate in an event where these two anniversaries go hand in hand".

For his part, Pablo Martínez Gramuglia, professor at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, pointed out that the students of the Faculty have been able to share with this activity, "not only their specific knowledge built up in academic life, but also their reading experience over the years". He also recalled that poetry "can be an object of study, a space for creation and an experience of aesthetic enjoyment and ethical formation, which is at the basis of the possible dialogues of each of us with the world around us, nature in this case, and with the knowledge about it".

Marta Revuelta, head of Activities at the Science Museum, pointed out that a feeling of "amazement and admiration for nature, which awakens in them the desire to know it and study it in depth" is what has led many students at the Faculty of Science to study careers related to this field. As he points out, "this activity has allowed them to dig through literary texts and share their passion for nature with others".
