The Science Museum of the University of Navarra joins in the celebration of World Museum Day, next May 18th, with a series of activities that will take place throughout this week. Among them, the inauguration of an exhibition of engravings by Ramón y Cajal, the presentation of the second video in the series "Women in Science" and the organization of free guided tours of its collections, where more than 25 million specimens of plants, animals, minerals and fossils are conserved.

The exhibition of engravings in facsimile edition of Ramón y Cajal's drawings, on display for the first time in Navarra, will be installed throughout the week in the Science Building and will continue until the end of June. This exhibition has previously been shown at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and other research centers in the USA.

The second clip dedicated to little-known women scientists is part of the project "Women in Science", which aims, through small animated videos, to highlight the role of women in science and provide references. In this animation clip the protagonist is Florence Nightingale, the driving force behind modern nursing. In the opinion of the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Ana Choperena -who has participated in the development of the script for the series, together with the students of the Women for Science and Technology group- Florence Nightingale "contributed not only to the development of British Nursing, but also to the incipient professionalization of nursing care in the international context".

In addition, guided tours of the Science Museum's collections will be available throughout the week, by requesting them in advance by e-mail at museociencias@unav.es or by calling 948 425600 extension 806281.
