The Council of Ministers has approved the Royal Decree regulating the granting of two million euros to the Science Museum of the University of Navarra, specifically to promote the construction and equipping of its new headquarters in the Bioma Center.

The Minister of Science and Innovation, Diana Morant, pointed out that "the aim of this project, which has the support of the Regional Government of Navarra, is to turn this institution, which dates back to the 1970s, into a cutting-edge museum that contributes to the dissemination of science and is a meeting point between the academic world and society".

For her part, the rector of the University of Navarra, María Iraburu, thanked the Government of Spain for the grant, as well as the support of the Regional Government of Navarra, and emphasized that "this support is a fundamental step for the Bioma Center, whose objective is to put science at the service of nature and people. I trust that this support will make more institutions and companies join a project that wants to make a relevant contribution to sustainability".

The future Science Museum of the University of Navarra will be a space for the dissemination of knowledge and a meeting point between the academic world, administrations, companies and society, promoting awareness of environmental care and science through its exhibitions, educational program and activities for all kinds of audiences. One of its main aspirations is to awaken scientific vocations among young people.

The Bioma Center will promote sustainable social development through interdisciplinary research, training and scientific dissemination. Therefore, the new building will house the Science Museum, the Biodiversity and Environment Research Institute, and teaching spaces such as laboratories, classrooms and workshops.

The design of the building is the work of architect Francisco Mangado. With a total surface area of 13,000 m2, it will be erected on the Pamplona campus of the University of Navarra, in the area adjacent to the city, on Avenida Pío XII, so that it will be another bridge between the university and society. The construction and equipment will require an investment of 30 million euros. The necessary financing is expected to be completed through new public and private aid from institutions, corporations and individuals, such as the Government of Spain and the Government of Navarre, who wish to contribute to the development of the project.
