About 100 people participated on Friday in the activities organized by the Science Museum and the Cima University of Navarra, on the occasion of "The European Night of Researchers". Schoolchildren, university students, and families came to the Cima to learn first hand what research is and some of the areas of work of the scientific institution.

Cima researchers Marisol Aymerich, from the Neurosciences Program, Arantxa González Miqueo, from the Cardiovascular Diseases Program, Carmen Berasain, from the Hepatology Program, and Puri Fortes, from the Gene Therapy Program, participated in the "Speed Dating" -talks of 5 to 10 minutes-. In this informative meeting, the researchers faced the challenge of explaining the complex science they perform every day in the laboratory to an audience of all ages. For more than an hour, they answered questions as varied as how many times the heart beats a day or the latest research on the cure for Parkinson's disease or Alzheimer's disease.

Attendees were also able to enjoy a battery of chemistry experiments conducted by volunteers from the Science Museum. Experiments were conducted on fluorescent, phosphorescent and photochromic substances, pH change, iridescence, and thermochromic objects.

Next, Cima scientistJosé Luis Lanciego, from the Neuroscience Program, gave the session "Put your brain to the test" where the researcher explained some curiosities about how the brain works and challenged the attendees to solve some mental games.

At the end, the attendees were invited to participate in the guided tours that will take place during Science Week in mid-November.
